Stay Tuned.....

Sorry for the lack of posts. After the THIRD hard drive crash in 1 1/2 years - I have a bit of catching up to do! (our fleet seemed to expire all at once!).
I have recovered all pertinent info, mainly all photos. However, I haven't had the time to update. To top it off, this week is Rosh Hashanah. Maybe you are saying, "What is a good Presbyterian girl doing worrying about that?" Well, there is a large Jewish family that comes down from Atlanta (and New York/New Orleans) each year to celebrate in our town. I prepare everything for their festivities, except the meat. They are wonderful, and I look forward to seeing them each year.
Maybe after Leslie's baby shower this weekend, I will be able to catch up!
Until then.....

Happy Birthday Max and Martin!

Max is 3 and Martin is 1. These boys (and their parents) sure know how to throw a great party! If bouncing is involved, so is Campbell!

Be Careful What You Ask For! or,

return of Lord of the Flies?

So, it is obvious that we were painting today. I left the room to rinse a few brushes that had been forgotten from the last time we painted. When you leave a 3 year old with paint and no shirt...

I told her that I didn't mind if she drew on herself. She just shouldn't TASTE the paint. We'll see next time.

Sesame Street Live!

These guys COULDN'T WAIT to see Elmo! We went with some friends to take THE KIDS to see Sesame Street Live in Atlanta. It was lots of fun, if not completely silly and goofy. (And I'm just talking about these 2!)

3-D POP!

We got to enjoy the afternoon with another "Girl's Night".
(Daddy was working in ATL)

This go around? We saw 'Fly Me to the Moon' in 3-D. It was really cute, and since she wants to be an astronaut-ballerina (her choice, not ours), it seemed appropriate!

I'm Just Sayin'

I could just eat her up!

Just had to snap a shot before she left to go to the high school game with Daddy.

What Would You Do for a Klondike Bar?

Well, Sweet Campbell worked up an ice cream appetite at ballet today. (do you have to work up one of those when you are 3?)

aaaannnnd, she twisted Daddy's arm - so he got her one...

While she is usually a little girl that shares, it was a tough sell getting a nibble from this bar!

Bun Bun Day

There is no photo for today, as I couldn't find a digital photo handy - but, I will look!

Today, is my Grandmother's birthday. Well, it would be, if she were here. Of course, I would rather she be here. However, I always think of her as sassy and smiling - so, it isn't a sad day. I usually just call Mom and let her know that I am thinking of her, and Bun Bun.

She should have been born now - women have so much more power and many more options.
She was a force, and I miss her today (with a smile).

Ruff, Ruff!

These 3 little girls were hypnotised listening to story time at the doggie birthday party!

On a similar note, Miss Catherine Claire was pretty mesmerized by this cute, cute 'dogfood' cake that her Mommy made. It was YUMMY!

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

I LOVE Soup!

OK, I will spare you the photo of Taco Soup. There is nothing particularly pretty about looking at a 'kitchen sink' type of concoction! So, here is a photo of the one that shared the original recipe - Lindsey (and a friend).

In this shot, she is at a local football game helping get people registered to vote this November. (If you haven't tried it, and I have only done so once - you should. It feels great to be part of the process!) Anyway, on with the recipe. It is DELICIOUS, and I make enough to eat it for a week (or freeze).

--------------------
Taco Soup - ala Lindsey...

2 pounds ground beef (obviously, she leaves this part out!)
1 large onion, chopped
1 can pinto beans
1 can whole kernel corn ,drained
1 can stewed tomatoes - Mexican style
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix -(opt.)
1 pkg. original hidden valley ranch dressing(dry)
1 cans hominy (this is essential! add more if you like, YUM!)
2 1/2 cups water or more, to make soup broth

PREPARATION:
Brown ground beef and onions in a large pan, drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for an hour or so. When ready, serve in big soup bowls, and have a skillet of hot cornbread to eat, too.
--------------------

The last thing I will say about this is, don't worry if you don't have exactly what it calls for in the recipe. For instance, I didn't have Rotel or pinto beans this last time. I did, however, have 2 cans of organic spicy black bean chili and lots of canned, seasoned diced tomatoes. Also, I had to make my own taco seasoning (which isn't hard with the recipe). Just try it - You will LOVE it!

Thanks, Lindsey!

Downs Dinner

Our dear friends Bill and Stephanie were in town this weekend, and had a group over for dinner at the folks' house. It was great to enjoy some adult (if you can call 12 tipsy grown-ups 'adults') conversation without the kiddies around.
(of course, Campbell was enjoying hanging out with Miss Emily too!)

Daddy's Girl

We got to enjoy the pre-game tailgate show for the local football game tonight. Our little girl enjoyed talking on the radio with Daddy.
