Friendship Soup

Each child at school brought some vegetables and broth yesterday to chop (in class) and make soup. Then, today, families all went to see these cuties...AND, enjoy some delicious soup!

The kids also made Indian or Pilgrim hats to wear. Just because Ryleigh is wearing an 'opposing team' hat - do not be alarmed. She isn't being choked within an inch of her life!
(it just looks that way!)

as to let a friend come over to play today?"

These are the exact words I hear from the back seat on the way to Montessori this morning! After I wiped the snicker off my face, what do you think I said?

Of course! She is only 3, and already workin' me over.

Play Date!

The photo isn't great - but, the fun always is! Each Friday is a treat for my girl (and lots of others)! Now that is it cold, we are often going to what she refers to as the 'Bouncy Place'. Certainly ensures that the nap will come quickly and last for a while!

It's All About Aubie!

After the ceremony this morning, we went to the game. We had tickets, but our friends Bob and Becca let us use their faculty tickets to sit really close.

All Campbell wanted to see was Aubie. We were on the wall, on the 40 yard line - so, that wasn't a problem! She even got to shake his hand. Although, she didn't get a hug (maybe next time?)

In addition to that Aubie fun, we got to, briefly, see one of my oldest friends - Sylvia (and family). Here is a shot of our cute girls. WAR EAGLE!

Alabama Press Association

Saturdays are always our most 'fun-filled' day. This one was no different.

We started off the day at Auburn University for the induction of Coleman's late uncle into the Alabama Press Association's Hall of Fame. Here we three are with Coleman's parents, two aunts, cousin and a family friend.


It was a lovely start to a full day!

HOPE

Whatever your political views, yesterday was a historic day for this country of ours. I wonder how I will explain that significance to our little girl child?

Forget it, she won't get it. Just like Coleman and I didn't get how big a deal the civil rights and space movements of the '60s were. How could we? By the time we were old enough to understand - they were well on their way. By the time she is old enough to get it, I hope she looks at me like I'm crazy when I say that there was a time before we had a minority President (maybe we will have a female president before she can vote!). Just like I couldn't imagine that there was a time before women could vote!

Again, regardless of you views, we need LOTS of HOPE in this country. 2 wars, crazy economy, etc., etc. - we can all hope that things get better (and do everything we can to help that happen!).

Amazing Grace

Today, we enjoyed our second annual Kirkin' o' the Tartans with our friends, the Harrells. Their Church celebrates Scottish Heritage every year.

It was a beautiful day. Any day is beautiful, though, when you can hear Amazing Grace...

on a bagpipe (and there is no sorrow involved).

Here we are with Jim Short, who has no problem connecting the dots with his heritage - he was born in Scotland! (he was also visiting from our Church) We'll have to capture the look each year - maybe Coleman and I will get some tartan of our own next year.

Steeplechase

We enjoyed a much needed family day today at the Steeplechase. And, we also decided that two girls are just as easy as one. So, we brought along Lou. Coleman had double-duty when the horses were near. The girls had a great time, and we did too!
